my backstory (an abbreviated version!):

In Australia, I worked as a property lawyer completing multi-million dollar property transactions at one of Australia's biggest law firms. I moved to Glasgow in 2009 to follow my heart and fell in love with the city at the same time.

When I moved to Glasgow, I was unable to practice as a lawyer (Scotland has a different legal system) so I volunteered at Paisley Law Centre and worked at University of the West of Scotland (UWS). I taught law across all levels and created a clinical legal skills module to teach students the practical skills needed to work in law. I was on the steering committee who organised a conference to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the judgment in Donoghue v Stevenson. This conference saw delegates from around the world converge on Paisley for a 3 day event, and now there's now a stone to commemorate where the cafe once stood.

I launched The Glasgow Food Blog in 2010 and I've been writing about the amazing food scene in Glasgow ever since. I write honest reviews about the restaurants I love. No chains, no freebies, no press releases – just reliable, honest reviews about Glasgow's best businesses.

In 2013, I completely changed careers and started working for Yelp. At the time, Yelp was one of the leading review platforms around the world. I was Yelp Glasgow's Community Manager and grew Glasgow to be one of the most successful communities for Yelp in Europe over 3.5 years. If you want to read more about the work I did for Yelp, you can see my glowing recommendations from my bosses over on LinkedIn.

Her good nature paired with steadfast tenacity makes her a pivotal and critical piece to any team. She is trustworthy, ethical, hardworking & direct.
— Colleen Curtis, VP of International Community & Marketing at Yelp

Around this time I was appointed chairperson of Glasgow Roller Derby which had more than 100 members. I was chair for a year and half and when I resigned, the club had "What Would Briony Do?" t-shirts made in my honour. I often miss playing roller derby but I don't miss the aches, pains and bruises!

I've been working as a freelancer since January 2017 and I'm delighted to be working for indie business around the world. I work for food and drink businesses, fitness, tourism, tech and service-based businesses.

I'm the kind of person who always has a few projects on the go, which means I'm excellent at sticking to deadlines and communicating with my clients.
